Classroom Management
Chinese Class:
Positive Feedback
Individual: Earn 9 stamps and get a prize.
Table points: Earn 12 initials to earn a prize.
Class points: move all gems to the jar = class reward.
Consequences
The DLI classes will be following the school wide PBIS program. The consequences for misbehavior will be outlined by the third grade teachers as a team.
English Class:
Class Dojo System – points are earned for actively participating, following directions, perseverance, teamwork, being helpful and being on task. Points cannot be lost for being off task, not following directions, being disrespectful, and calling out. But, parents will still receive weekly reports that indicate both positive and negative behaviors. Students who keep their positive ratio above 80% for the week earn class money which can be used to buy items in our class store.
School Wide PBIS:
The school has three rules: Respect, Responsibility, and Safety. All teachers, including Brain Booster teachers, will be following this program that gives students positive feedback and consequences for following or not following precision directions. Each grade level uses the same rewards and consequences to ensure continuity and make it easier for the students. (A copy of the PBIS matrix for 3rd grade will be sent home the first week of school in student homework folders.)

ENGLISH HOMEWORK
At home, students should read daily for 20 minutes.
Each unit has a review week. During review week, students will receive additional practice sheets to complete at home to prepare for our unit tests.
CHINESE HOMEWORK
Chinese curriculum has been updated. As more information comes, we will let parents know what to expect for Chinese homework. This will come via our newsletter and emails and Chinese curriculum updates will be on our Weebly.
MATH HOMEWORK
A weekly packet will be sent home at the beginning of each week. These packets are FOR PRACTICE only. They are due within the week they are assigned. The “homework packet” is very similar to work done in class.
We will be using Reflex MATH for additional practice.
